Richard graduated with a Bachelor of Sports Science from UNSW in
1995 followed by a Master of Sports Science from UNSW in 1998.

His
career started as Strength and Conditioning coach with both
St.George and South Sydney Rugby League Football Clubs. As well as
starting his own business “Positive Power of Fitness” which
incorporated stretching and rehabilitation work with children.

He is
also the co-author of two books “Strength and Power Training without
Weights” and “Rugby League Fitness For Kids”.

In
1999 Richard was appointed Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and
Sports Scientist for the NSW Institute of Sport where he was
responsible for the strength and conditioning of some of Australia’s
top elite swimmers
which competed in 2000 & 2004 Olympic Games.
Richard is currently working with these athletes.

In
2002, Richard became a father and with that came the desire to
reduce the appalling Australian infant drowning statistics.
Recognising that your child is the most precious gift in your life,
he gave up his career to embark on new adventures,
as an ISR instructor. A profession he has entered into with a
passion. |

After
passing the strict ISR candidate criteria Richard was accepted as a
student instructor in the intensive five week practical in-water
and theory training in Florida USA. As well as ensuring a
thorough understanding of the unique learning needs of non-verbal
infants, Richard’s ISR education also included child psychology,
behaviorism, physics and physiology.
