Become an Instructor

14th February 2006

Dear Richard and Rachelle

I would like to thank you for the wonderful work you are doing with teaching children water skills through your Kids Aquatic Survival School. I’d also like to share an example of how essential the Infant Swimming Resource course is.

Five weeks into the course, my young son Alexander was knocked over by a wave at the beach. I was standing about a metre away and by the time I had reached his side, he had flipped onto his back and was floating comfortably, as you had taught him. He experienced no distress and was happy with the praise he received from me and a couple of other people on the beach.

At the time, he had just turned two.

While I was able to get to him very quickly, there are many cases where children aren’t so lucky. Accidents can happen so quickly, even to the most vigilant of parents. And even though a program such as KASS can’t prevent those accidents, it can increase their chances of survival, which after all, is the most any parent can ask for.

This is my thought that I want to share with you: If only one child is saved from drowning as a result of your course, I want it to be mine.

I am grateful to you for teaching my son the most important lessons he’ll ever need: resourcefulness, independence, problem-solving, self-trust, and the ability to save himself in the water.

Our heartfelt thanks,

Alethea Mouhtouris
